Circles of the mind

Some time ago, an image circulated on the social web of the little ant that couldn't get beyond a painted circle. It kept stopping right at that edge and looking for another way.

It was fun to see, and easy to click on. Or, to get stuck on it and understand in slow motion what is actually happening here. This ant is too "limited" in its thinking ability to realize that the drawn line does not exist, it could just walk over it. It is not a hurdle, this barrier was only present in its perception.

Basically, we have a lot in common with the ant. Of course, a line on the ground will not stop us from moving on. But the invisible barriers that limit us are also in our minds, literally.

Our thoughts, educated opinions of the world, our ideas and perceptions from the experiences we have gathered of the world correspond exactly to the ant's circle. Most of the time we do not move across the border. On one hand, we do not realize that there is such a limit. On the other hand, we are afraid of the result if we cross certain boundaries.

Mostly, we are not even aware of the limitation, which takes place only through our world of thoughts. We can't even recognize it, like the little ant. We just keep running along the edge and can't find an escape.

I sometimes like to call one of my clients my little ant. Then she already laughs and knows what is in store for her. Her sentences like to start with:" I can't do this or that". And then my response is: " Why not?". The dialog continues with "The problem ( my absolute favorite word ) is....... and then there usually is a short or longer list. If I then ask "Who said that?" first there is silence and reflection and more la

ughter.

If we have a wish that seems impossible to fulfill. If we want to do something that supposedly can't be done.... BECAUSE... then it's worth taking a piece of notepaper and writing down all the sentences that come into your mind on this subject.

♥ I can't go to university again BECAUSE...

♥ I can't have a child at the age of 48 BECAUSE

♥ I can't go on a trip around the world BECAUSE

♥ I can't leave a man BECAUSE

.....and so on.

And then we write after each argument who said this. At times it is a mother, at other times it is a father or someone else. But very often it is also ourselves who say," It is not possible BECAUSE...".

Not all limits can be overcome immediately, not every fear can be dissolved right away. We cannot always solve the desire by such a small piece of paper, but it is worth asking in any case:

WHO ACTUALLY SAYS THAT SOMETHING IS NOT POSSIBLE?

And perhaps you will come to the conclusion: that's not true at all, it is possible, at least in parts or maybe just to start with.

To remain with the picture of the ant... it seems not to know so some things. Weight for example

The little ant doesn't seem to realize that carrying TEN times its own weight is actually impossible. Or is it not? It simply does it.

In this respect, I would wish you to find out about your inner limiting sentences and to ask the one or other time:

and realize, hey, somehow that is possible after all.
